A Healthier, Happier Dog on Paw Naturaw Organic! February 14, 2010 Verdigris (East Coast) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In re: Paw Naturaw Organic Chicken Diet Note: We have no connection to Paw Naturaw or the other dog food companies mentioned. We have a French Bulldog, a breed notorious for flatulence. His breeder had started him off with Eukan*ba Natural Lamb & Rice for Puppies. Wanting to give him the best that we could, we tried numerous, premium, grain-free, dry foods including: Inn*va, Calif*rnia Natur*l, Merr*ck, Now! Grain-Fr*e, and Karma Org*nic. During gradual transitions between brands, he'd always have bloating and gas, sometimes diarrhea. ALL the dry foods gave him bloating and gas, even the reputedly better brands. After more research we found out what's *really* in dry dog food and decided to change his diet immediately. We also found out about species-appropriate, raw feeding. We wanted to stop the kibble sooner than later so we did a rapid transition of only 3 days. We'd supplement the Paw Naturaw with Soj*s, Honest Kitch*n, and home-prepared veggies and fruits. We're careful about safe food preparation and haven't had trouble with pathogens. Pros: even with the quick changeover onto Paw Naturaw our pup had no issues: no diarrhea, no bloating, and now, absolutely no more gas! He used to clear the room with his stink bombs. He also used to have overpowering "doggy odor," even after a bath. On the raw diet the heavy doggy odor's gone. Now he has a cleaner, subtle scent. His stools are normal. He also has more energy and he's more even-tempered. He's eager to eat, whereas on dry food there'd be days he'd refuse to eat and would be moody. Cons: raw, organic, dog food does cost more per pound than kibble. Roughly double the cost depending on which brand and what size bag. Shipping through Amazon.com helps offset the cost a bit. Feeding raw takes a little more planning and prep, but not much: just thaw overnight, mix, and weigh out portions for the day in covered glass or ceramic containers. Takes no more than 10-15 min. Having a small digital scale and several, same size, bowls on hand make prep easier. We're thinking long-term and feel that his health and well-being are well worth giving up the convenience and lower cost of kibble. If we'd known about raw feeding before we wouldn't have fed him kibble at all. Although this way, we did see the stark contrast between the results of raw vs. processed food. In short: our pup's indigestion and gas-free, has more energy, and is healthier and happier on a raw diet. The clear results speak for themselves and we hope that Paw Naturaw keeps up the good work.
Paw Naturaw nuggets for dogs July 4, 2009 C. Holifield (Idaho Panhandle) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My four scotties love this food. We lost three other scotties to cancer; our girl was only 8. I began researching diets ("See Spot Live Longer" by Steve Brown, available from Amazon.com), and have come to believe that a "bones and raw food" diet was worth a try. Paw Naturaw has a wonderful list of ingredients, including ground bones, organic meat, veggies and fruits. It's pricey for four dogs, so I supplement with a good dry food ("Taste of the Wild"). I've ordered twice, and both times the shipping was free, fast and frozen. I appreciated the philosophy of the company and will continue to order Paw Naturaw.
Nice product June 17, 2009 Jennifer Kately 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have two dogs. One is a Chihuahua and the other is a Rat Terrier. They love the food but the only thing is that it has to be warmed up. They have been on the food for one month now and the Rat Terrier's allergies seem to be better. He isn't licking himself for hours. I have ordered the chicken and turkey.
Thank God for this food! June 11, 2009 Pet Lover (CA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My 6 year old Chihuahua has colitis and I have tried every kind of kibble and probiotic I could find to help her to no avail until now. She has been on this frozen chicken diet for about 2 months now and she is doing wonderfully. She used to refuse to eat, vomit and have the worst bowel movements to say the least (we'll leave it at that). Now she wants to eat all the time and chows like there's no tomorrow. She used to grunt when you picked her up because her tummy hurt and you could hear it gurgling. Nothing the vet gave me helped her. My mom who feeds the RAW diet to all 8 of her dogs suggested this diet to me as I do not have the time to prepare food like she does and now I will not feed anything else. My Chihuahua is doing so well on it why ruin a good thing. I'm grateful she is no longer in pain and I am thrilled not to have to clean up after her several times a day. I was away for the weekend and my husband fed her kibble for just one day and she was back to her old tummy issues.....she will NEVER have kibble again. Just placed another order to ensure I do not run out.
not to my pups liking May 24, 2009 Carla de Mos (Los Gatos, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
By standards of nutrition, ethics, and supporting local companies, this is a very good quality product. My pup is being raised on a raw diet and so I bought the product for convenience. Unfortunately, I could only get him to eat it if I let him get very hungry and then he would only eat a bit of it. He is not a finicky eater, he generally wolfs down his raw meat. Perhaps dogs which are switching from pet store canned or hard dog food would be more enthusiastic.
